Had I not had those slip-ups , today would be day 202. March 3 was the Day 1 that somehow lasted 147 days.

I don’t know what I was thinking on July 29, but for some reason I felt like drinking, and I did. It wasn’t “my” beverage – it was Scott’s Crown Royal mixed with a Spindrift (probably a grapefruit), and some Ningxia Red – and just 2 drinks. They were good-sized (Patti-poured), of course – but still, I considered marking that day as another dry one, since I didn’t get bombed. It was a real slip though, and I knew it. It was done with intention. And I want to get to the bottom of this drinking thing eventually (ugh ugh ugh), so I stayed honest. And I was so mad at myself for that. For ruining my streak. And also for drinking.
After that, the drinking was a day here and there, still with Scott’s booze and not mine – and then one day it was with mine. I stopped at the gas station a week or 2 ago and bought a bottle of wine. That malarkey went on for about a week – 4 or 5 bottles, and most of an 18-pack of Bud.
I love waking up on the mornings when I didn’t drink the night before.
I like being able to tell my Parkinson’s-stricken friend that she can put me on her emergency contact list, knowing that I can answer the phone at any time (notice that I don’t love it? That’s because there’s a reason that I didn’t go into nursing).
I love knowing that I’m healing day by day by day, and I can’t wait to see what my light-therapy patch will do for me after a few months without that toxin negating any good that the patch is doing.
I love saving a couple hundred bucks a month – 2 or 3 house cleanings’ worth of cash.
I like “sober treats” and love the idea of self-care – and think that it’s time to up the self-care and drop some treats. (Haha)
I love having an excuse to actually stop and reflect and to take the time to write, and I’m so glad that I set up this blog earlier this year so that I can just pop on and do that (now that I’ve remembered how to log on here)!

There are so many more things to love, but this was supposed to be a quick dopamine hit for me before heading out to clean a condo. I haven’t even hit the “publish” button, and it’s already worked. 🙂 SO GRATEFUL
